LT.-COL. A. BELLAMY Lieutenant-Colonel Arthur Bellamy, T.D., D.L., J.P., formerly Mayor of Wandsworth, died on Friday at his home at Hove, at the age of 86. Born in 1869, the son of the late Sir Joseph Arthur Bellamy, he was educated at Plymouth College and abroad. He saw active service during 1914-18 War in the Royal Garrison Artillery and was mentioned in dispatches. He had a long record in local government and was Mayor of Wandsworth in 1930-32. Later, in 1934, he was elected to the London County Council and served on that body until 1940. He married, in 1898, Edith Emma, the second daughter of Sir William T. Madge, first baronet, who survives him, together with two daughters of the marriage. |
